Cygnet Victoria House gains AIMS accreditation

Cygnet Victoria House

Congratulations to the team at Cygnet Victoria House for successfully gaining AIMS accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

AIMS (Accreditation of Inpatient Mental Health Services) is a national project developed to ensure best practice is being achieved in in-patient mental health rehabilitation services. Amongst other things the AIMS peer review team assess standards of care, current facilities, standards of documentation and health records, environmental facilities, staff training qualifications, support and supervision.

In total Cygnet Victoria House met 94% of the 250 standards that services are measured against. The peer review team found the following as particularly noteworthy areas of achievement:

  • The review team were particularly impressed with level of psychological and occupational therapy support on offer to patients.
  • The use of the therapeutic practice showed the service was making active efforts to improve patient well-being
  • Victoria House had good systems in place to improve the physical health of its service users through the physical passport and had good links with a local GP practice.
  • The review team observed comprehensive patient centred care plans and staff that had strong relationships with those in their care.

“Receiving accreditation solidifies the care, passion and commitment our team have in making a difference. We strive to create an environment that enables independence and reaching personal goals, with service users at the heart of their care. We are all really proud of our achievement!”Lorna Thurston, Hospital Manager
