Having signed up to join the Alliance for Better Care vaccination team Sue and Paula completed a course in both the Pfizer and Astra-Zeneca vaccines. As trained vaccinators they were able to personally facilitate the vaccinations of residents and staff at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home. In doing so it became the first nursing home in East Surrey to vaccinate its residents.
They have not stopped there though and have both been putting in shifts at vaccination centres in the local area. Sue has been vaccinating at the Canon Centre and together Sue and Paula have also been carrying out vaccinations at Westway in Caterham.
To date Sue has vaccinated approximately 1,000 people in the East Surrey area. Thanked on Twitter by Sarah Billiald, CEO of First Community Health and Care one GP from ABC responded to say that Sue, “has been wonderful at several sites across East Surrey. A true gem in the NHS and typically understated. Goes about her business with professionalism and friendliness.”
Sue said, “It means the world to give time to something so worthwhile. The vaccination programme will hopefully lead to the end of lockdown, save lives and bring a return to normality. I’ve been helping people to understanding the virus more and the importance of the steps we all still need to take as we work together through this pandemic.”
