Secure services Discharge and Resettlement CQUIN official launch

Cygnet Health Care are pleased to be launching this week to all of our secure units a short co-produced film titled ‘Movin On’ which has been created at Cygnet Hospital Bierley to help support understanding for both staff and service users on the impact of admission into hospital for service users.

The video forms part of the ongoing work we have been focussing on for the NHSE 2 year Discharge and Resettlement CQUIN and centres around how a meaningful, well prepared and collaborative discharge effects recovery.

The national Discharge and Resettlement CQUIN began in April 2017, the overall aim is for the development and implementation of strategies for optimising the care pathway. This strategy is designed to achieve a reduction in the current average length of stay (LOS) for our service users.

Blockages and protracted delays in discharge impact significantly and adversely on patient quality of life and speed of recovery, resulting in preventing the availability of specialised inpatient beds for others. For this reason specialised mental health services are experiencing ongoing capacity and demand pressures for inpatient beds.

Following improvements earlier in the year to our electronic record system to give teams better ability to record and review Estimated Discharge Dates, the launch of this new video along with supporting CAMHS media postcards and a guidance document for our staff will officially launch our commitment to optimising care pathway for our service users.
