Rosie’s crowned a Pandemic Hero!

Congratulations to Rosie Pettett, Ward Manager of Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke’s Nash Ward, who has been named a ‘Pandemic Hero’ by the Weston Mercury.

The North Somerset Times and Weston Mercury teamed up with the club and spa at Cadbury House in Congresbury to give away five, six-month full memberships. The idea was to reward those who have gone above and beyond the norm or could just do with being given something nice as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The two papers asked their readers to nominate someone who they thought was a Pandemic Hero who should be given one of these fantastic memberships.

The entry criteria for nominees described someone who had demonstrated ‘sheer will, determination and support during this incredibly challenging time’. The appeal was seen by Phoebe, the ward clerk on Nash Ward. Having worked with Rosie throughout the pandemic, Phoebe felt that Rosie was the most deserving person to win.

As part of her nomination Phoebe said of Rosie that, “Her dedication has really shown throughout all of this. As a team we would like to show our appreciation of her through this nomination. Rosie always goes the extra mile for all of her team. She is there whenever people need her and she steps up to support the ward and the team at any given moment.”

In the end Rosie was nominated not just by Phoebe but several other members of her team on Nash Ward. Another team member described how Rosie, “consistently volunteers to test both the service users and the staff for Covid-19 to ensure our safety, and she does this in her own time.”

Rosie was delighted and surprised to be named one of the five deserving winners. Barry O’Driscoll, Hospital Manager said: “We are so proud of Rosie and are lucky to have her as a member of the team here at Kewstoke. As detailed above Rosie is so dedicated and often goes above and beyond the call of duty. Rosie is truly deserving of this award and should be very proud.”
