We are delighted to announce that Rafik ‘Raf’ Hamaizia will be joining Cygnet Health Care as our Expert by Experience.

Raf will be working with us over the coming months to help develop and shape our Patient Involvement and Experience work, this will include looking at how we involve service users in our hospital board meetings and providing input at a strategic level to the work on Recovery Colleges and Digital projects.

“We are delighted to be working with Raf, he is an experienced patient leader who will offer Cygnet the opportunity to build on the fantastic work we already do involving service users, he will be able to offer new thinking, innovative ideas, access to new networks and challenge us to do even better!” David Cole – Chief Executive

Raf will work closely with Julie Kerry, Cygnet’s Director of Nursing, to provide the leadership to shape and develop this work alongside our service users and staff.

Raf says:

“I am really excited to join the Cygnet family. Already, I have been astounded by the amount of great projects that are in the pipeline and I look forward to meeting with staff on the ground and primarily, the people accessing services. It is a privilege to be Expert By Experience Lead and I offer a special thanks to Julie Kerry (Director of Nursing) and David Cole (Chief Executive Officer) for welcoming me with open arms. Work is always better when you have a good team!

“As someone who has accessed services in the past I am an Expert By Experience. I have been working with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) as an Expert By Experience for nearly 2 years now, where I have taken part in over one hundred inspections. I also sit as Committee Member with NICE (National Institute for health and Care Excellence) at SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence). I facilitate user groups for various NHS trusts and I am passionate about service user involvement. In my spare time I work with disadvantaged youth through my interest in music and videography.”
