Star Wards supports a programme of improving service user and staff experience in mental health inpatient service settings via a list of 75 items, including service users being involved in staff recruitment and peer support events. Meridian Ward was able to evidence the presence or introduction of the 75 items that are listed on the Star Wards website and were warmly commended by Geoff Brennan who said that being presented with The Full Monty Award was a great achievement for a service.

Highlights of the event were the acknowledgement of the service user input with regards to the audits, the commissioned service user art work, acceptance of the award by Meridian service users and the presentation of flowers to Beatrice Komieter (Ward Manager) and Rachel Kitten (Deputy Head OT) by a Meridian service user. The event was very well attended by service users and staff and the feedback afterwards was overwhelmingly positive.
