Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week runs between May 16th and 22nd and this year’s theme is Relationships. To mark the week, Cygnet Health Care will be launching two new videos which explore reducing restrictive practice and the positive impact that has on relationships, both between service users and those who support them and more generally.

Chief Executive David Cole signing his support for reducing restrictive practice

We are working within all of our services to positively reduce restrictive practice. Our strategy for doing so was launched at our recent management conference, where our Chief Executive David Cole took the lead in pledging to reduce these practices across Cygnet. Individual delegates were also invited to pledge what they personally would be doing.

These included pledges to help give service users a voice, raise awareness, review “blanket” practice, implement specific training and to look at our environments in order to reduce all forms of restrictive practice.

In addition to the launch of the new videos, our services in Yorkshire have held a workshop exploring relationships and we’ll be sharing details and people’s experiences from that during this week too.
