Making Memories at Cygnet Views

Last week service users at Cygnet Views made the most of the sunshine by commencing work on the service’s new memory garden.

Service users wrote down treasured personal memories on pieces of paper using different shapes. These were then cut out and laminated before being glued on to wooden spoons to help the memories stand up in the soil. These are can now be visited whenever they want in the garden area.

In addition everyone also got together to make a new wish tree in the sensory garden. For this, they drew up parcel tags, which the Individual’s wrote their wishes for their future on. These were then laminated, cut out and tied around a tree using different coloured ribbons.

The wish tree can now be enjoyed all year round, and serve as a reminder of individual goals.

Cygnet Views is a 10 bed high dependency complex care service in Matlock for women with learning disabilities and associated complex needs.
