Making Christmas Cards to raise money for the NHS

Steven, a resident at Ranaich House in Dunblane, has raised over £160 for his local NHS hospital by making and selling Christmas cards.

During one of the monthly Ranaich House meetings, Steven stated that he would like to raise money for the NHS to say thank you for all their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Steven and the activity co-ordinator Kirsty brainstormed various ideas of how they could raise money, but due to the pandemic, many of the normal fundraising ideas were not possible due to social distancing or travel restrictions.

Wendy, a staff nurse at Ranaich House had the fantastic idea of making Christmas Cards and selling them, Steven loved this idea. Kirsty got the supplies and Steven and his team got to work making the cards. This was a massive task, the orders were coming in quick and fast as the demand was high.

Staff helped and Steven worked tirelessly for the whole month of November to keep up with the demand of the orders. Steven also produced a large canvas of the NHS rainbow made with painted bottle tops to present to them alongside the cheque.

Due to government guidelines of no travel, the team ensured this trip coincided with an appointment he already had at Forth Valley Hospital. Steven presented the cheque, which was greatly received.

Raising over £160 for the NHS was a massive achievement and it doesn’t stop there. Their next fundraising adventure starts in January to raise money for Down syndrome, and Steven and the team have already got their thinking caps on for fundraising ideas.

Well done Steven and to everyone at Ranaich House who helped him.
