Kirkside’s Royal Garden Party

The team at Kirkside House and Kirkside Lodge, our community residential services in Leeds for adults with learning disabilities and associated complex needs, recently held a Royal Garden Party for residents to enjoy.

The event was organised by team leaders Angela and Carl, whose mission it is to make sure that our residents have a group celebration each month for both staff and residents to enjoy.

The team worked tirelessly alongside the residents to make the event special. Residents were joined by family members as well as peers from the Gardening and Bakery Projects.

There was a lovely outdoor meal – lots of which was homemade by the Bakery Project staff and residents. There were also old fashioned garden games, prizes, music and fun.

Finally there was also the chance to sit on the golden throne, specially made for the event by Colin and Roxy from the Gardening Project and decorated with bunting provided by Mu and Rita from the Textiles Project. All in all it was a wonderful display of teamwork and everyone who attended had a fantastic day.
