John is a senior nurse leader with over 30 years experience in the health sector. He’s a registered Mental Health Nurse and Nurse prescriber who has worked in and managed forensic services including all ranges of secure mental health settings and high secure prisons as well as the Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder service in HMP Frankland.
Before joining Cygnet, John spent four years in Dubai in Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital Dubai for Maudsley Health advising the Ministry of Health and Prevention on developing mental health services and working as an operational senior manager.
Prior to this, he spent 10 years working in commissioning and case management in the North-east specialised commissioning, more latterly with NHS England. John worked on a national and regional level in assurance and delivery and has been involved in the national secure group and Royal College of Psychiatry developing standards in secure mental health, perinatal service, mental health and deafness, IAPT, learning disabilities, CAMHS and community services.
Outside work John has a keen interest in music (particularly playing the guitar), mountain biking and diving. He is passionate about improving services and working closely with services users to give them the best care possible.
