Gledholt Mews and Coach House raised a fantastic £313.30 for Mind as part of the team’s celebrations for World Mental Health Day.

Kristie Carr, Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse, shares how the staff and service users celebrated over the weekend.

“On Friday 8th October, we held a market stall event on-site for staff and residents selling items donated by local businesses and large companies (Morrisons, Lush, Odeon to name but a few) which was enjoyed by all!

The catering team were fantastic in supporting the event by assisting residents to bake cakes to sell, which contributed a large sum to our total goal.

On Sunday 10th October, a boxing session was run by myself in the morning with staff and co-taught by residents to demonstrate the benefits of exercise on mental health and as an anger management tool. This was thoroughly enjoyed by both staff and residents and we plan to run future boxing sessions!

We were also kindly joined by Gen Kelsang Varahi, a local Buddhist nun who ran a guided meditation session with the residents and staff in the afternoon. Again, this was much loved by residents and staff and we plan to continue with such sessions as part of our daily practice as a service.

The event was organised by both myself and Claire Lindus (nursing team) and our two excellent Activity Co-ordinators Lavell and Marianna, fully supported by our excellent management team of Marta and Enrique.”
