First Aid qualifications for service users at Cygnet Appletree

Service users at Cygnet Appletree recently took part in a two-day First Aid at Work course. The course covered all the basic first aid techniques such as the role of the first aider, unresponsive casualty, communication and casualty care, resuscitation (adult CPR), fainting, burns and scolds.

The course was split over two days and broken down into small sessions, each session was structured and fun which enabled the service users to take their time, to learn and digest the information. On completion each service user achieved a Level 2 in First Aid in the workplace.

The workshop was well received by the service users; they all said that they would like more training workshops, they each enjoyed being off the unit and that the relaxed atmosphere enabled them to challenge themselves.

The feedback from service users that attended was really positive, here is what they had to say:

  • “It was nice to feel normal; it felt like I was back at school learning”
  • “I would like to do more of these workshops in the future”
  • “When can we do, the 3 day course?”
  • “That was the most fun I’ve had in ages”
