Dove Valley Mews Opening in Summer 2019

Dove Valley Mews, our new community residential service for adults living with a learning disability and associated complex needs, is opening in Summer 2019 and is now accepting referrals.

Dove Valley Mews, which is based five miles away from Barnsley town centre in the suburb of Wombwell, offers modern residential accommodation comprising of two separate apartments (a three bed and a two bed) and an enclosed outdoor garden within a homely environment. All bedrooms at Dove Valley Mews are en-suite and the individuals we support will be encouraged to personalise as they wish.

On-going assessment and high staffing levels, based on a minimum ratio of one staff member to two residents, means that we will be able to meet people’s changing needs as they progress through their care pathway, while ensuring their safety is maintained and their independence supported. Regular review meetings involving the resident, their family and professionals will be held to review outcomes, set new goals and re-assess support levels as people progress.

Promoting an individual’s independence is very important at Dove Valley Mews and residents will be encouraged to prepare food and drinks for themselves and their visitors. Developing self-care and daily living skills is a core part of life at the service.

The management and staff team have comprehensive training, including all mandatory training and bespoke training specific to the needs of the residents; this includes CIS, safeguarding, food safety, first aid, approved intervention techniques, autism, mental health, mental capacity and record keeping.
