Cygnet quiz raises £3,850 for Ukraine

On 25th March, Kerry Booth, Head Occupational Therapist, and Abigail Roberts, Occupational Therapist, at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield hosted two virtual quizzes to support the people and animals of Ukraine.

There were two separate quizzes, so that Cygnet’s CAMHS services could take part separately to the adult services.

Staff and service users from across Cygnet’s social care, healthcare and support services joined in the hour-long quiz.

The categories included Disney, food & drink, music, geography, sports, TV & film, true or false, family fortunes and a quirky round in which we learnt a favourite new fact … what do you call a group of pandas? An embarrassment!

Cygnet Nield House were the winners for the adults quiz, scoring 96 points out of a possible 111. The team from Cygnet Hospital Bury’s Wizard House were the CAMHS services champions with 37 out of 40! Well done to the winning teams who will each receive a trophy to display!

“Thank you for such a great quiz. We have enjoyed it. Wooh… we are winners!”Cygnet Nield House team

Each ward / team donated £50 to take part and a grand total of £2,850 was raised. Cygnet also added a donation of £1,000, bringing the total to £3,850!

Kerry Booth, Head Occupational Therapist and quiz master, said: “The donations and uptake for the quiz was far greater than we ever anticipated!”

The funds will be split between two charities; the Red Cross Disasters Emergency Committee and Shelter Ugolyok.

“Great effort everyone. Congratulations Cygnet Nield House! Thank you for organising such a large event across the group.”Kay Bolton, Regional Director of Occupational Therapy

A massive THANK YOU to Kerry and Abigail for organising such a brilliant event for staff and service users. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise a fantastic amount for the chosen charities.
