Cygnet Nield House opening early 2020

We are delighted to announce that our new 30-bed mental health hospital for women, Cygnet Nield House in Crewe, is due to open in early 2020. The hospital will be split into two distinct wards, Compton Ward and Clarion Ward, and will provide acute and PD intensive support services.

Clarion Ward

Clarion Ward will be a 15 bed intensive support service for women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and complex mental health needs. Clarion Ward will provide a robust person-centred programme of care for women presenting with high risk needs and who may demonstrate difficulties with engagement or motivation with therapeutic programmes. We will aim to meet the needs of these women, who may have had previous inappropriate placements, in a less restrictive setting.

Referrals for Clarion Ward are now being taken and can be made by contacting the Cygnet referrals team via 0808 164 4450 or by emailing [email protected].

Compton Ward

Compton Ward will be a 15 bed acute service for women. The service will provide a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

The ethos of the service will be about assessing and treating service users in the least restrictive environment and planning for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, we will support service users to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community.
