Cygnet Hospital Woking achieves ‘Good’ rating with CQC

We are delighted to announce that, following an inspection on 20-21 February 2018, Cygnet Hospital Woking has been rated Good in all areas by CQC, joining Cygnet Lodge Woking, which was also awarded a Good status in all areas in 2017.

Cygnet Hospital Woking provides comprehensive mental health rehabilitation pathways for men and women, across our two adult low secure wards, recently opened female mental health rehabilitation service, Picasso Ward, and male mental health rehabilitation at Cygnet Lodge Woking. We are also due to open a new PICU service for women, Acorn Ward in June 2018.

The full report (published on the CQC website) highlights many areas of positive practice, including:

  • Our kind, caring and motivated staff
  • Proactive and consistent involvement of our MDT in service users’ care, and everyone’s opinion valued across the team
  • The robust, recovery-focused and person centred nature of our service users’ risk assessments and care plans
  • Our varied, strong, recovery-orientated programme of therapeutic activities and treatment groups available every week
  • The many examples of initiatives implemented to involve patients in their care and treatment
  • Clear guidance in place to report incidents and support staff learning when things had gone wrong
  • The positive staff morale, and reports from staff that they feel well supported and engaged with a visible and strong leadership team, including both clinicians and managers

“I am so very proud of the team at Woking. Everyone worked so incredibly hard in such a short amount of time and the rating is truly a reflection of the wonderful work they do and of the high quality care we give to our service users.”Peter Smith, Operations Improvement Director

We are also delighted to announce that Seamus Quigley has been appointed Hospital Manager at Cygnet Hospital Woking and will be joining the team in May 2018. We’d like to thank Peter Smith, Operations Improvement Director for overseeing the quality improvements at Cygnet Hospital Woking and to congratulate the team on a great achievement.
