Cygnet Hospital Sheffield’s Phoenix School is a Rights Respecting School

The students and staff at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield’s Phoenix School are proud to announce that they are a Rights Respecting School, and have recently been awarded bronze status.

The Rights Respecting School Award is an initiative run by UNICEF UK which encourages schools to place the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of its ethos and curriculum. A Rights Respecting School teaches about children’s rights and also models rights and respect in all its relationships.

The Phoenix School community are working alongside UNICEF to ensure the school is a safe and inspiring place to learn, where we are all respected and our talents are nurtured.

Throughout this academic year the team are going to continue to embed children’s rights into our school ethos and culture, and hope to achieve silver status by the end of the academic year.

“I am delighted that Phoenix School has achieved bronze status. The Rights Respecting School award matches Cygnet Schools underlying philosophy of putting young people at the centre of what we do. I look forward to our continued journey towards Gold status, well done to all staff and students involved”.Ed Hall, Head of Education
