Cygnet Hospital Ealing and Cygnet Lodge Kenton celebrate Cygnet’s 30th anniversary

On Thursday 1st November 2018 Cygnet Ealing celebrated Cygnet’s 30th Anniversary with an all-day party for service users and staff.

Over a period of a month, weekly collaborative meetings took place with service user representatives, occupational therapists, drama therapist and project manager to choose the selection of activities and programme planning.

Celebrations included a Service Users’ Art Exhibition, an 80’s themed musical workshop by Nicky Morris, an 80’s photo booth, 80’s themed quiz with pictorial clues left throughout the entire hospital. There were also raffle prizes to be won and a total amount of £100 was collect for donation to Place2Be.

A service user also made a presentation of her journey and recovery at Cygnet, other activities available were, a magician, face painting, henna design, a presentation of animals by ‘Reptile Rob’, ‘PAT therapy’ with the petting of a trained dog, and presentations about Cygnet working lives from Cygnet staff in their many different home country languages.

The festivities closed with a final party, a speech and cake cutting by Clinical Manager Ola Adegoke. Ealing’s Medical Director, Dr Kevin Healy, then treated everyone to a surprise by playing his melodious fiddle during the party.

A big thanks to everyone involved including the catering team who generously supported with a selection of delicious food. A great time was had by all, in particular the service users, who advocated for the incorporation of music workshops and PAT therapy in their treatment programmes.
