This week it is Men’s Health Week and the focus this year is on diabetes. Cygnet Hospital Blackheath, which provides low secure mental health and PICU services for men, celebrated Men’s Health Week by producing a workshop service users on managing and preventing diabetes.
The workshop was attended by service users and staff and delivered by the OT Therapy team, including Occupational Therapy Technician Lloyd Curtis and supported by Dr Vincenzo Giordano, Ward Doctor for the hospital’s Meridian Ward.
The purpose of the workshop was to highlight the causative factors of diabetes and educate how men are affected, through discussion and shared learning experiences.
The feedback from the workshop was really positive with one service user saying, “it was a good session and being able to discuss my diabetes journey with others was good.”
