Cygnet Hospital Bierley hold AQA award ceremony

Cygnet Hospital Bierley’s Recovery College have had their first AQA accredited award ceremony. Staff and service users from all wards were invited along to show their support and celebrate the achievements made.

The morning started with Lead Occupational Therapist Neil Voakes, who briefly spoke about the hard work that has been carried out by service users, supported by staff and overseen by our two AQA moderators, Naila Khan and Nathan Alexander. Holly Alix and Jo Harris, the regional Involvement Leads were also present for the ceremony and joined in the celebrations.

Naila and Jenny McVinnie, Hospital Manager announced and handed out the certificates to each service user, some of whom had achieved more than one award. The morning was documented via photos by a service user from Bowling ward and there was the opportunity for snacks, refreshments and chat with everyone involved to celebrate individual successes.

Therapy staff and the AQA moderators have worked hard together to create courses for each of our Recovery College courses. These were then submitted to AQA in order to receive certificates for everyone involved. The team at Bierley are continuing to work hard on new courses which can be accredited by the AQA.

We would like to thank everyone involved in the setting up of the AQA courses. There are a number of further awards which are in progress, so it is hoped that this event will be the first of many.
