These annual awards were established to keep people ‘enthused’ and thinking about how they can apply DBT in their practice.
Cygnet Hospital Beckton’s award was for the successful adaptation of the team’s long running Adherent DBT programme to also meet the needs of service users on the hospital’s specialist learning disability service, Hansa Ward.
The judges comments on the team’s submission were: “We really liked this account of adapting DBT for use in the Learning Disability Service. The description of challenges you faced and how you overcame them is certainly inspiring. We especially liked the consideration you gave to remaining loyal to the model and concepts whilst making the materials as accessible as possible and the sessions flexible to meet your group’s needs. The examples are great, we particularly liked the interactive cut-outs for the behavioural chain analysis.”
“I feel immensely and genuinely proud to announce that our Adapted DBT Program won an APT Award for Excellence in DBT 2018. I would like to congratulate our DBT Team for all the hard work, passion and energy that we put in to this huge task.”Olga Konstantinidou – DBT Lead, Cygnet Hospital Beckton
