Cygnet Fountains get back to nature

The team at Cygnet Fountains have been working with Lancashire Wildlife Trust on an exciting new project which will see new life blossom in Witton Park’s long-forgotten greenhouses.

The Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust have been working in Witton Park, Blackburn for a number of years as part of their successful green wellbeing project, Myplace, which has been supporting people to grow their own food, learn more about the natural world and enjoy the outdoors.

As part of the project, service users have been enjoying local guided walks, making links with the local community and learning about growing their own food.

Service users have stated that “being in nature has helped my mental health” and “the guided walks are helping with my fitness and learning about the local area is good”.

Blackburn with Darwen’s Director of Public Health Dominic Harrison said; “It’s great to see a project encouraging people to get active outdoors in our wonderful green spaces. Being physically active and close to nature has positive effects on both our physical and mental health.”
