Cygnet Brunel win Poster Presentation Award at UKABIF Time for Change Summit

Congratulations to the team at Cygnet Brunel who won the Poster Presentation Award at the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) Time to Change Summit.

The poster discussed an intended comparative study of Cognitive Screening Instruments (CSI’s) – the Free-Cog and Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination- III (ACE-III). The aim of the study is to do a blinded cross over prospective study of 20 ABI service users at Cygnet Brunel in Bristol. The data will be analysed using a Weighted Comparison (WC) measure, to provide the difference in sensitivity and specificity of the two CSIs.

Staff from Cygnet Brunel who contributed to the poster included Dr Mark Paramlall, Dr Henk Swanepoel, Dr Amelia Baldwin, Dr Jordan Taylor, Yasmine Wolfe and Katie Covell. The poster was presented on the day by Dr Mark Paramlall, Dr Henk Swanepoel and Katie Covell.

Dr Swanepoel said, “We were delighted to win the Poster Presentation Award. The team work at Cygnet Brunel brought about this wonderful achievement and we hope to share our research output at next year’s summit.”

UKABIF’s Time for Change Summit took place on 8th November 2021 at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. The Time for Change campaign was implemented through the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) to improve post-acute care for people with an ABI. The collective vision of the campaign is to make a lasting and meaningful impact on outcomes for people suffering from a brain injury.

Other Cygnet team members who contributed to the summit were Dr Tony Perini from Cygnet St William’s and Alex Scordis-Hutchinson from Cygnet Heathers who gave a joint presentation in the main conference hall called ‘Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation: Do the ‘Shrinks’ Fit the Gaps?’

Well done to Tony and Alex and congratulations to all the team at Cygnet Brunel.
