Cygnet Aspen House celebrates World Mental Health Day

The team at Cygnet Aspen House, our high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for women in Mexborough, celebrated World Mental Health Day with a day of activities.

In the morning staff and service users got together for some pebble painting. The idea was to paint positive words and images on the pebbles. These were then spread around the local area during an afternoon walk in order to raise the profile of mental health in the local community and that ‘It is okay, not to be okay’.

The catering and occupational therapy teams also organised an Afternoon Tea event. Service users and staff were treated to a true ‘Cuppa and Dining’ experience by being waited on by members of the OT and multi-disciplinary teams.

Everyone was then encouraged to think of positive inspirational quotes, this then led to a group discussion on the stigma surrounding mental health and how to break down barriers.

The day was a great success, well done to everyone who got involved.
