Cygnet Alders Clinic celebrates World Mental Health Day to raise awareness

It was recently World Mental Health Day and the team at Cygnet Alders Clinic celebrated with a party.

World Mental Health Day was started by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, to promote mental health advocacy and to educate people on relevant issues. Since then, it has been adopted by mental health charities and organisations across the world. Each year has a theme and this year that theme was mental health at work.

The celebrations started with a buffet style lunch made by the kitchen staff and there were homemade cakes made by the ladies – all adorned with positive affirmations.

Service user led table decorations were also created to raise awareness of mental health and promote people coming together to help each other. These included a 3D globe and paper friends holding hands in joint unity. A ‘Myths About Mental Health’ quiz was also held to encourage everyone to share their experiences.

Needless to say, the day was a success. There were many laughs shared, but most importantly people spoke about their own mental health.
