On Saturday 13th August members of Cygnet Health Care’s senior management team successfully abseiled 100m down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower. By doing so they raised over £7,000 for selfharmUK, Cygnet’s nominated charity for 2016.

On a gloriously sunny day on the south coast Cygnet’s Chief Executive, David Cole, led the way by going down first. You can watch David’s descent on the video below.

Following David was Medical Director, Dr Humphrey Needham-Bennett who, “simply had to go next.” Guest abseiler Andy Timson was then overtaken by Cygnet’s IT Director, David Ewing who was suitably pleased with his time.

“It was good fun, the only iffy part was stepping off the platform in to nothing. Once I realised I hadn’t plummeted to my death, the rest was pretty easy and I smashed it in 2 mins 34 secs!”David Ewing, IT Director

Next up was Julie Kerry, Director of Nursing, followed by the very brave Governance Director Vicky McNally.

“Knowing we were raising money for selfharmUK certainly helped me get over the edge. It was simultaneously fabulous and petrifying- I can safely say that I have never been so pleased to step on terra firma!!”Vicky McNally, Governance Director

Last one down was Development Director, Tom Wilson after which everyone enjoyed a well-earned glass of champagne to celebrate their achievement.
