Celebrating Student Nurses

On Tuesday 3rd August 2021 we held a Student Nurse Open Day at Shirebrook Miners Welfare. Students from Derby, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University were invited and we were pleased to welcome 17 students to the day.

Some of the students were on placement with us at Cygnet Sherwood House and Cygnet Manor, whilst others were completing placements with other healthcare providers. Also attending were regional management including Dean Malpass, Regional Director of Nursing and Ricky Holland, Regional Operations Director.

The purpose of the day was to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contribution made to healthcare services throughout the pandemic by student nurses, as well as provide an opportunity to reflect and connect with colleagues and other student nurses. The event was lively and engaging and counted towards placement hours. Refreshments were provided – even a free non-alcoholic bar!

Laura Burch, HR Business Partner, said, “Feedback from the day was very positive and enjoyed by all. We have agreed to run these events quarterly and they will count towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD).”
