Broughton House an ‘Outstanding’ well-led service

We are delighted to announce that, following an inspection on 19th June 2019, Broughton House has been rated Good in four areas and Outstanding in the ‘Well-Led’ category by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Located in Brant Broughton, Lincolnshire, Broughton House is a specialist residential service for adults with autism. Broughton House offers residents individualised living spaces, creating an environment that will support them for moving along their care pathway to more independent living.

“I am very proud that we have been awarded ‘Outstanding’ for Well-Led and it was a real pleasure to read the positive feedback from families. The experience the staff possess here is priceless and I’d like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all the Broughton House team, they are the very people who make the service so successful.”Emma Hodson, Home Manager

The full report (published on the CQC website) highlights many areas of positive practice, including:

  • There were numerous examples from relatives to show how they had been involved and empowered to support their family member’s care, and how their knowledge of their relation was used to provide outstanding care.
  • People received outstanding personalised care from a staff group who had excellent knowledge of their individual needs. Staff worked continuously to support people achieve their full potential.
  • People were supported by a group of staff who were exceptionally caring and who considered people’s needs and choices.
  • Staff showed an excellent understanding of Autism and the different ways people were affected by their condition.
  • Staff showed a clear understanding of how to support people to manage the risks to their safety and allow them a fulfilling day to day life. This included having the right level of support in place for people to access the community and undertake the different activities people enjoyed.
  • Relatives told us they had confidence in the staff and management team to keep their family member safe, and should any issues arise the team were honest and open with them.
  • The service worked hard to develop strong links with the local community and this had the result of local resident’s acknowledging people from the service when they were in the community.

Well done to Emma and the rest of the team at Broughton House.
