Cygnet Lodge Brighouse celebrates 10th anniversary with ‘Good’ rating from CQC

Cygnet Lodge Brighouse

Last month marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of Cygnet Lodge Brighouse. The Lodge had extra cause for celebration when it received confirmation of a “Good” rating following its latest inspection from CQC.

Inspectors found that Brighouse provided holistic and recovery-focused care planning, which was entirely individualised to meet people’s needs.  They also noted that service users had access to a broad range of psychological therapies and a good substance misuse programme, while the “strong multidisciplinary team worked well together”. The service received praise for its positive, kind and caring approach.

The report also noted that service users benefited from therapeutic and social activities and active community integration work, while inspectors saw “positive, kind, and caring interactions between staff and patients, who were routinely involved in their care planning and reviews.”

Cygnet Lodge Brighouse provides community-based rehabilitation for men. It is part of the wider mental health care pathway Cygnet can offer in West Yorkshire, including Cygnet Hospital Wyke’s emergency admissions services and the low secure service at Cygnet Hospital Bierley. It also provides an extension to the secure male care pathway at Cygnet Hospital Bury.

Supporting up to 24 men, there is an extensive range of therapy available, as is a specialised and dedicated substance misuse programme. Cygnet Lodge Brighouse also has a specially-designed three-bedroom “flatlet” where service users can gain more independence before moving back to the community.
