Cygnet Hospital Bierley completes improvement works

Cygnet Hospital Bierley has recently completed a £222K project to upgrade en-suite facilities across three of the hospital’s four wards. In addition, the ward bathroom and the seclusion en-suite have also been updated on Shelley Ward.

The work consisted of replacement wash hand basins, bath taps and toilets to provide push operated taps and toilets with an integral seat. Replacement hinges were also installed on all en-suites to further reduce the potential for ligature points.

The ward bathrooms have been upgraded to the same standard, with a power shower being installed on Bowling Ward, the hospital’s specialist DBT service.

The work was completed over a number of months to reduce the potentials for disruption to service users. Community meetings with service users were also used to help plan the works and to help manage the impact of having contractors on ward areas.
