Yorkshire Supported Living

Oxley Woodhouse, Woodhouse Hill, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD2 1DH

Gender: Mixed

Age: 18+

Tenancies: 39

We provide a supported living service in West Yorkshire in a number of locations in Huddersfield and Leeds. The services provide specialist support for adults with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs within their own accommodation.

Each accommodation offers individuals the opportunity to hold their own tenancy agreement with a Registered Housing Provider. Individuals who are supported in this service may have previously been detained within a hospital setting and are ready for a step-down placement within their local community. We provide specialist input and risk assessment to manage and reduce high risk or offending behaviour for individuals stepping down from secure, forensic or long-stay settings.

As individuals progress with their independent living skills, supported living can be a suitable accommodation option, where we are able to offer support packages involving high staffing levels, and staff teams with the same high level of training and expertise as those working in our residential services.

Our service delivers individualised support and behavioural management plans to achieve successful community living and break a cycle of placement breakdown. Residents are empowered by deciding what their goals are and what they want to achieve each day.

Our service offers packages to those living in their homes or in new accommodation arranged with a registered social/private landlord, including support with finding suitable accommodation and arranging tenancy agreements, benefits and personal budgeting for household and personal expenditure.

Vocational activities and learning opportunities*

We believe that it is essential for individual’s wellbeing to have purpose in their day-to-day life and to learn new skills. We have established different work projects to introduce vocational and learning activities where the people in our care can learn valuable skills and develop confidence. Service users have access to:

  • Employment projects, such as bakery, textiles and horticultural work to help deliver meaningful occupation
  • The education centre, which provides a range of ASDAN accredited courses tailored to suit individual service users’ needs, incorporating learning through sensory and academic experiences
