Eleanor Brewster - Medical Director (Scotland)

Eleanor Brewster is a Consultant in Psychiatry of Learning Disabilities. She has been a consultant since 2009, and has worked as a consultant within NHS services and more latterly the independent sector.

Dr Brewster has worked with individuals with learning disabilities in inpatient and community settings, and with individuals with learning disabilities with co-existing mental health, forensic issues, autism, or who present with behaviour that challenges.

She has worked in a number of management and leadership positions over her career, and is the Medical Director for Cygnet Services in Scotland.

Dr Brewster is passionate about high quality, patient-centred care, and working towards best support enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Fabian Haut - Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Haut completed his psychiatric training in England and Scotland. He has a CCST in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability and General Adult Psychiatry. Dr Haut worked as NHS consultant psychiatrist from 2001 to 2019. He has experience in inpatient, day patient and community settings including forensic settings and is trained in the assessment and treatment of people on the autistic spectrum. He has an interest in psychiatric education at both under and postgraduate level and continues with input as senior clinical teacher at the University of Dundee medical school.

Dr Haut has an interest in research and has published over 30 papers and four book chapters. He is a medical member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and a Designated Medical Professional, providing second opinions on treatment.

Ewan Lundie - Consultant Psychologist

Ewan has been a chartered clinical and forensic psychologist since 1998. He has worked in a wide range of inpatient services including low, medium and high secure forensic psychiatric hospitals, prisons and brain injury centres, and community based services for adult mental health and criminal justice. This work has included risk assessment and management, offending behaviour groupwork, mental health interventions, and brain injury rehabilitation. Much of this work has been with service users who have neurodiversity, including autism, and intellectual disability. Mostly this work has been as an employee of public services but he has also practiced independently for several years.

His roles have included being a manager, trainer, consultant and practitioner. Sexually harmful behaviour, risk assessment, personality disorder, complex trauma, severe mental illness, cognitive impairment and staff wellness are areas of expertise. Project work has included development of services and intervention protocols. Ewan is embracing his current post with Cygnet Scotland as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, working with social care and inpatient services for residents with learning disability and autism

Karen Shaw - Lead Occupational Therapist

Karen Shaw is an Occupational Therapist who has worked in both NHS and independent sectors for over 30 years, firstly in nursing and then occupational therapy. Karen has worked in both ward and community based mental health services. The experience she has gathered includes elderly care, general adult mental health, adolescent mental health inpatient services, forensic secure services and more recently learning disability and autism high dependency ward at Cygnet Wallace Hospital.

Karen is currently employed as the Regional Lead Occupational Therapist for Cygnet in Scotland. She previously managed the occupational therapy department in her previous role within the private sector. Karen is also a qualified sensory integration practitioner.

Enid Gosling - Speech and Language Therapist

Since qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist in Edinburgh, Enid has worked in a variety of NHS, educational and care settings. Her specialism and main interest is working with individuals who have learning disabilities and autism and she has an additional qualification in dysphagia.

Enid started work with Cygnet Health Care in September 2020 and is the lead speech and language therapist for Cygnet’s Scottish services. Her role is to work with and support the other speech and language therapists in Scotland in helping the individuals we support to communicate. This also involves advising and training the staff and making information as accessible as possible. In addition she has responsibility for assessing and advising on dysphagia
