The Hollies

The Hollies will provide long and short-term residential care for 2 young people of any gender with complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The house aims to be a ‘home from home’, a place where residents can feel safe, secure, comfortable and cared for. The service will be opening in April 2020.

The Hollies will focus on establishing a place of safety, building meaningful and lasting relationships and supporting individuals to access the support they require in order to make a positive difference to their lives. Residents are to be supported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a qualified and committed staff team who will ensure that they have access to educational and recreational opportunities.

The home is semi-detached with a good sized front garden and set within a welcoming residential street. The area is suburban with easy access to a wide range of local amenities including a medical centre, dentist, numerous shops, post office, community centre, and a variety of sports and leisure facilities. Within close proximity are a number of local landmarks, including Norton Priory Gardens which features a combination of historical, archaeological and natural beauty, Walton Hall and Gulliver’s World Theme Park.

Within the area are several primary and secondary schools, where possible and appropriate our residents are to be supported to attend these schools in order to further embed themselves in the local community and make friends. Individuals will have their own spacious bedroom that they are encouraged to personalise and make their own. The home also has a number of communal areas including a large through lounge/dining room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and staff bedrooms/office. The Hollies also benefits from a generous sized lawned back garden, in addition to a decent sized flagged area, where children and staff can relax, enjoy a BBQ, play and spend time outdoors.

The Hollies has a unit vehicle which enables residents to go on trips and activities, attend school and to meet up with friends and family. Visitors are welcome at the home and residents are encouraged to invite their friends and family. All visits will be coordinated with and approved by the staff team.

We believe that education provides the foundation for future success and achievement, and great emphasis is placed upon the children and young people having excellent attendance at school. The staff team will promote a positive attitude to learning, keeping in close contact with school staff, sharing all relevant information, attending all parents evenings and encouraging and supporting all out of school learning. We will work closely with local schools and colleges with guidance from the Virtual School to ensure children get the most appropriate placement for them and that any Special Educational Needs (SEN) are identified at the earliest opportunity.
