Meet the Team

Helen Ullyatt - Service Manager

Helen has worked at Cygnet Day Service in Sheffield since 2003. She started as a support worker and I loved her day to day role supporting the service users to have a fun filled day of various activities.

As the years passed Helen was given so many opportunities to increase her knowledge and skills thus allowing her to grow within the company. Helen was a team leader for four years before becoming the Deputy Manager. A year later she was then promoted to the Service Manager that she has now being enjoying since 2010.

Terri Scott - Deputy Manager

Terri started her career at Sheffield Day Services as a support worker back in 2015 after working as a community carer for 3 years. She was offered training and opportunities to develop her skills and knowledge and became team leader in 2016. During her time as team leader, Terri has completed a qualification in Leadership and Management which has helped her to progress and develop in her current role as Deputy Manager, which she has been in since 2017.

Bryony Jones - Team Leader

Bryony has worked at Sheffield Specialist day service for 5 years as a support worker, and has now been Team leading for the past 3 and half years. Bryony has been able to have access to different training opportunities for skills that are needed at the service to enable her to support the complex health needs of the service users that attend the service some of the training Bryony has completed is tracheostomy training to PEG training and catheter and stoma care. Bryony has also completed the level 3 leadership and management apprenticeships that is available within cygnet to help develop into a future management role.

Kirsten Sheppard - Team Leader

Kirsten joined Sheffield Day Services in 2019 and has progressed in her time there. She started as a support before before stepping up to a senior support worker role, acting team leader and then to her current position in January 2023. Kirsten has completed a level 3 leadership and management apprenticeship and enjoys learning new skills and increasing her knowledge. She is passionate about understanding Autism and learning about new ways to support service users.

Kay O'Neill - Physiotherapist

Kay is the physiotherapist at Sheffield Day Services and has been working as a physio for many years. Kay supports the service users to have the best opportunities to use their mobility skills and to help them with leisure activities that support their health needs and maintain their independence.

All service users are encouraged to enjoy their activities at day centre and to socialise within the environment and be given opportunities to experience a range of different leisure activities. Kay believes that working with a whole team approach achieves the best results for our service users.

Izzy Leighton - Speech and Language Therapist

Izzy graduated from University of Central England in Birmingham in 2005 with BA (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy. She has worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in the field of Learning Disabilities supporting people with complex needs, forensic histories, Dementia, Autism, eating and drinking problems and challenging behaviour.

Izzy joined Cygnet in 2018 and is committed to supporting the people who access our Day Service to maximise their speech, language and communication potential by working with them individually and also with a whole team approach.

Cath Kirton - Occupational Therapist

Cath joined Sheffield Day Service Team in May 2022 and has worked as an Occupational Therapist since 2019. She is currently completing Sensory Integration training with the aim of becoming a Sensory Integration Practitioner and enjoys being a part of the Cygnet Company.

Cath supports in creating an individualised experience for each service user Day Service and adapts group activities to suite all service user’s needs and preferences. Cath promotes service user independence and works on identifying and removing barriers to service users engaging in activities. The Day Service environment is carefully considered to make it meaningful and purposeful for everyone who attends.

Michelle Hague - Activity Coordinator

Michelle has worked at Sheffield Day Services since February 2020 as the activities co-ordinator. The day services have lots of fun doing activities both staff and service users and often go out on day trips. Michelle has learnt a lot from the training that is provided and enjoys working for Cygnet Health Care.

Michelle’s job role involves doing the 16 week plan for service users, monthly meetings to make sure service users are happy and get choice and variety and, most importantly, that they are happy. Michelle arranges a variety of activities such as crafts, sensory sessions, music, body awareness, life skills, swimming and many more.

Abbie Coyles - Activity Coordinator

Abbie has worked at the day service since 2015. She started as a support worker and loved her role enabling service users to achieve their best. When Abbie started she was was able to improve her skills by having the necessary training. In 2017 she was given the opportunity to take on the role of Team Leader and has since moved onto the role of Activity Coordinator in 2022.

Abbie’s role involves organising activities which are accessible for all service users to be involved. The main goal for the role is to ensure all service users have the best day when they are here at the day service and go home with a smile on their face.
