Supporting our services users into work and becoming a part of their communities is really important to them and us. Bob* is ready for discharge from The Lodge and recently participated in Assistant Psychologist interviews, as part of his training for job applications.
Bob wants to start a plumbing apprenticeship. During Speech and Language Therapy sessions, the team and Bob started working on his CV writing skills, job application, cover letter and writing skills plus mock interview questions. He has been really engaged in this piece of work and it has motivated him to come to the sessions and work hard.
The Psychologist offered him the chance to take part in the Assistant Psychologist interviews, alongside the Speech and Language Therapist. This gave him an opportunity to be on an interview panel, ask questions and to have a say in who to hire.
Bob spoke in his own words about his experience:
“Hi my name is Bob and I’ve loved working with the Speech and Language Therapist. She is called Pippa and she’s amazing to work with in her sessions on multiple tasks. But I have especially enjoyed working on interview skills. Some of the skills I have learnt were: Writing out a CV, proving that I’m confident, interview skills up to scratch, practice questions and mock interviews. The Psychologist Hayley let me join in her panel and ask questions. I enjoyed the experience working with both these women.”
Congratulations to Bob and the team at The Lodge.
