Dean initially started his career as a support worker before qualifying as a social worker with children and adults with learning disabilities. He began his management career in 2011 with Craegmoor Healthcare as a home manager.
After Craegmoor was acquired by Priory Healthcare Dean gained further management experience as the Clinical and Therapy Services Manager at the Priory Hospital Bristol. More recently Dean has been the Hospital Director of Priory Hospital Church Village as well as the Priory’s Regional Safeguarding Lead for Wales & Bristol.
Dean was appointed Hospital Manager of Cygnet Hospital Taunton in October 2016.
Carla has gained the skills and abilities required for her role from years of nursing experience in Cardiology, Intensive Care and the Emergency Department in NHS hospitals, Forensic Nursing and other Independent Care Providers.
Carla's last post was Clinical Manager of a nursing service, officially classed as inadequate with whole service safeguarding concerns. Under her leadership this service performed a complete turn around and is now proudly rated by the Care Quality Commission as “good”.
Carla’s role at Cygnet Hospital Taunton is to make sure that service users get outstanding care from the nurses, healthcare assistants and therapy teams. She is passionate about providing the best possible environment for those in her care. She knows that every service user has individual care needs and that these must be addressed to produce the best quality of life. She will use her knowledge, skills and abilities to produce the highest standards of person centred quality care.
Gemma commenced at Cygnet Hospital Taunton as a Staff Nurse, Clinical Team Leader and more recently was the Ward Manager of rehabilitation services. Gemma continues to have a key role in the clinical care and quality across the hospital and was part of the team that worked towards the most recent CQC inspection. Following the improvements made at Cygnet Hospital Taunton, Gemma was given the role of Clinical Development Lead to help continually improve and develop the services at Cygnet Hospital Taunton.
Nick qualified as a registered mental health nurse at Nottingham University. Prior to training as a nurse, Nick worked as marketing manager after successfully completing his marketing management studies in 1994. Nick also worked as a teacher specialising in commercial subjects. He joined Cygnet in 2006 as a staff nurse. Nick was promoted to Nash Ward manager in 2014. Nick is passionate about providing a responsive service that places its emphasis on the provision of high standards of care tailored to meet all the holistic needs of our service users.
Nick transferred to Cygnet Hospital Taunton in September 2018 to become a key part of the team in managing the opening of the new services which includes our working age male acute ward on Sycamore Ward and the learning disability service Redwood Ward.
Diane qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2006 and since then has worked with a range of patients in different healthcare settings. Diane has extensive experience in elderly rehab, working age adults, mental health, personality disorder, challenging behaviour in older adults and working with people who have learning disabilities. Diane has a special interest in Falls Prevention and Talking Therapies.
Diane started working for Cygnet in 2010. She developed her career at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke where she became Acting Head of Department. In 2015, Diane moved to Cygnet Hospital Taunton, to become the Head of Occupational Therapy. Diane is excited about the changes and developments that are currently underway at the hospital.
