At Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, the following visiting arrangements apply:

When looking to visit a family member or friend at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage we would encourage that you provide us with as much notice as possible (a minimum of 24 hours) to ensure that we can arrange one of our visitor rooms and a suitable member of staff.

Usual visiting times are as follows:

Peplau, Pattison, Tiffany and Saunders wards:

  • Monday to Friday – 16:00 to 19:00
  • Saturday and Sunday – 11:00 to 19:00

Orchid and Chamberlain wards:

  • By arrangement with nursing staff

Please note that visits during these times are subject to staff and room availability.

Cygnet Health Care has a policy on Safeguarding, Protecting and Promoting the Welfare of Children and Child Visitors. At Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, if a patient makes a request for a child (under the age of 18) to visit, the ward social worker will make initial enquiries with the patient and with the person with parental responsibility for the child. The clinical team will then discuss the request and if satisfied that it is in the best interests of the child approve it.

What to expect on arrival

When you visit Cygnet Hospital Stevenage you will be welcomed by one of our friendly reception staff who will then ask you to sign in as a visitor and ask  if you have any contraband items (please see below). Please note you will need to provide a form of photographic ID in order to visit. Once you have signed in you will be asked to wait in our visitor waiting area until we are able to facilitate your visit which will be at the earliest time possible. Refreshments are available if for any reason your visit is delayed.

A member of staff will collect you from reception and take you to your visit or meeting.

We have parking available for visitors; these spaces are situated in the car park outside the main entrance to the building.

What not to bring

Certain items, such as mobile phones, car keys, medicines and sharp items may not be brought in to certain parts of the hospital. For a full list of contraband items please click here. If you have any items that you are not supposed to take on to the ward a locker will be provided for your use. Alternatively you can leave them in your car at your own risk. We reserve the right to search visitors and their belongings.
