Bearsted Ward is a 15 bed male PICU service that accepts emergency and crisis admissions. Referrals will come to us from all areas, including acute and prison services. Our aim is a short, rapid intervention to help service users regain a sense of control and order in their lives, so they can move to a less restrictive care setting and ultimately return home. “Literally words cannot express my gratitude at the platinum standard level of service I have received during my stay here. Thank you from my heart and soul, you guys are amazing.”Service user The service provides expert, intensive, short-term, individualised care for service users detained under the Mental Health Act. Service users will present with increased risks that require them to be assessed and treated in a PICU environment. “Bearsted Ward has great staff and there are more activities to do here compared to other hospitals I’ve been to. They have nice astro turf, a basket ball hoop and a variety of footballs to help pass the time. Also the food is pretty good here. They also have a nice multi-gym which we can use everyday for 30 minutes with staff supervision. This is the nicest hospital I’ve been too so far.”Service user Our service user profile: Men, aged 18+ Detained under the Mental Health Act Experiencing difficulties that present a risk to the well-being of themselves or others that cannot be treated in an open environment Diagnoses may include: Acute mental illness Acute depressive illness Psychosis Schizophrenia Bi-polar disorder Personality disorder Dual diagnosis May present with co-morbid presentations: Self-harm Substance misuse issues Complex needs Download the Bearsted Ward Flyer207.00 KB
