Information for Visitors

DERBY (32)

Wyvern Unit – Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit

Visiting hours are from 4.00pm – 7.00pm Mondays to Fridays and 2.00pm – 7.00pm at weekends. Visits will be supervised by a member of staff where appropriate. Children may visit on an individually assessed basis, subject to risk assessment by a Cygnet Hospital Derby Social Worker. All child visits will occur in the visitors room.

It would be beneficial if 24 hours notice could be given to avoid disturbing Therapy input and allow time to facilitate a quality visit.

Visits outside the stated hours can be facilitated with prior notice and agreement with the Wyvern Unit Team.

Litchurch and Alvaston Ward

Visiting hours are 16.00 – 19.00 Mondays to Fridays and 14.00 – 19.00 at weekends. Relatives will be able to view the Ward at an initial visit but all subsequent visits will take place in the visitors’ room.

Due to restrictions set out by the Government, all visiting arrangements are subject to change and we will work with family and friends to organise visits in line with the guidance given to us. Please contact the wards to arrange telephone calls to speak to your loved ones.

What to expect on arrival

Monday to Friday 7-8.30 reception staff are on duty. They will ask you to sign in and if you have any contraband items for which you are asked to sign a declaration. You may be asked to allow us to search your bag to ensure none of the items are there. This is a safety and security measure for you and the people on the unit.

A nurse will collect you from reception and take you to your meeting or visit.

There are ample parking spaces available and please feel free to use the parking bays marked ‘visitors’.
