Dr Ajay Bhatnagar – MBBS, DPC, MRCPysch, Dip.Forensic Mental Health Dr Bhatnagar has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since March 2008, working in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust in London. He is currently working as the Consultant for the Intensive Case Management in Psychosis Team (ICMP), Bromley Borough. He is also the Trust lead for ICMP. He is the Trust teaching lead for Kings College London medical students. The college offered him a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer position. He has also been teaching on the MHA course run by the Trust for several years now. He has a certificate in teaching from KSS Deanery. He has been an educational supervisor and Firm head since 2008. He has led courses for the PLAB and MRCPysch examinations, has been an examiner and in addition to this, authored the chapter on Schizophrenia in a textbook of psychiatry published by the Oxford University Press in March 2009. Dr Bhatnagar obtained his basic medical degree in India in 1991 and since then has been involved in the care of mentally unwell patients. He moved to London in 2000 and undertook his core and Specialist Registrar training in Guys and St Thomas’ training scheme. He has his CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry and his subject of specialist interest is Recovery and Forensic Psychiatry. He has a diploma in Forensic Mental Health from St George’s University of London. He has had a wide exposure to the assessment and management of mentally disordered offenders. His Specialist registrar training included training at the High Secure Broadmoor Hospital, Medium Secure Unit- Bracton Centre, Category A Prison HMP Belmarsh and in various community forensic facilities. He has also worked in Low Secure units in the past and his past and current roles include liaison with probation services and criminal courts. Dr Bhatnagar’s work focuses on recovery orientated practice in patients with complex needs and his core interest are in a continually developing high quality service for this client group. Dr Bhatnagar was welcomed by Cygnet Lodge Lewisham into the team on 1st June 2009 to undertake the role of Consultant Psychiatrist and Responsible Clinician. He was designated the role of Medical Director for Cygnet Blackheath and Lewisham hospitals in 2016. Dr Humphrey Needham-Bennett – MB BS MRCPsych Dr Needham-Bennett trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London and completed his medical training in 1987. Over the next 3 years he studied on the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Psychiatry training rotation and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He went on to complete specialist higher training in General Psychiatry and then completed further specialist higher training in Forensic Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. He was appointed to a consultant post at the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospitals in 2001 and continues to hold a consultancy with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Needham-Bennett was also the Caldicott Guardian for 3 years at the SLAM Foundation Trust. His clinical work encompasses all aspect of General and Forensic Psychiatry with particular specialist interest in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, substance dependence, alcohol misuse, self- harming behaviours and personality difficulties. Dr Ronan McIvor – MB BCh BAO MRCPsych Dr McIvor is our PICU consultant on Tyler Ward. He holds ward rounds on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings. Dr McIvor also works in Bridge House in the medium secure unit at the Lambeth Hospital SLaM. His special interests include forensic psychiatry, intensive care psychiatry, psychological reactions to trauma and medico-legal work.
