Dr Darryl J J Britto, MBBS, MRCPsych, Cert HSM
Adult General Psychiatry

Dr Britto qualified as doctor of medicine in 1983 with the Bal-Chintoba Prize in Forensic Medicine. He has been accorded the status as ‘Specialist in Psychiatry’ by the GMC, under the European Specialist Qualifications Order 1995. In addition to work at Cygnet Hospital Bierley, Dr Britto practises at the BMI Huddersfield Hospital specialising in the treatment of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, adult survivors of childhood abuse and addictions.

Dr Britto is also a Force Consultant Psychiatrist to Merseyside Constabulary, Liverpool, and a Consultant Psychiatry Claims Advisor to Vitality Health UK. He has previously been a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Leeds and Clinical Tutor in Psychiatry for the Halifax Hospitals appointed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London. He undertakes assessment for civil compensation claims and employment tribunals. He has worked for Cygnet Hospital Bierley since 2006, specialising in the treatment of service users admitted to the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and also undertakes psychological interventions for post-trauma related psychiatric morbidity.

Dr Junais Puthiyarackal

Junais qualified as a doctor in 2000.He has CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse Psychiatry. He has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS both in Addictions and General Psychiatry. He was involved in Medical Education and had additional responsibilities as a Specialty Trainee Tutor and OSCE Examiner.

Junais has contributed his expertise for enquiries in to homicides committed by mentally unwell patients. He has recently been appointed as a Medical Member of the Mental Health Tribunal. Junais has expertise in managing complex psychiatric cases in a variety of settings. Junais had collaborated in national research projects with experts in the field of addictions in the past.
