Information for Visitors

Starting from 9th October 2017 Newham Council are implementing parking restrictions on the estate surrounding the hospital. Parking restrictions are in force between 10am-2pm Monday-Friday. This will have a huge parking implication for visitors as staff will be double parking in the car park meaning there will be nowhere for visitors to park. Any visitors to the hospital during the above mentioned times are advised to travel by public transport.
Whilst a service user is in hospital it is important that contact with the everyday occurrences and family relationships of home are continued.

At Cygnet Hospital Beckton, the following visiting arrangements apply:

Visiting times are restricted during the day Monday to Friday to ensure service users are available to engage in therapeutic activities on the ward. Some visits will be supervised, depending on identified risks, and all visits must be booked 24hrs in advance to ensure the visit can be facilitated.

Bewick Ward – Low Secure Rehabilitation Unit
Visiting hours are from 4pm – 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 12pm – 7pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Hooper Ward – Female Psychiatric Intensive Care
Visiting hours are from 4pm – 5pm and from 6pm – 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 2pm – 5pm and 6pm – 7pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.

New Dawn – Female Borderline Personality Disorder
Visiting hours are from 5pm – 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 12pm – 7pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Children may visit on an individually assessed basis, subject to risk assessment and these visits must be booked at least 48hours in advance and will take place in a comfortable room off the ward.

What to expect on arrival

On arrival to Cygnet Hospital Beckton there is a buzzer at the gate which allows you to buzz for which ever ward you have an appointment with or you can buzz the reception. On entering the front gates walk to the main reception area.

Monday to Friday from 8am-7pm the reception area is manned. There are buzzers on the left of the door, please press the buzzer for Reception and they will let you in. The Receptionist will ask you to sign in.

You may be asked to allow us to search your bag to ensure none of the items are there. This is a safety and security measure for you and the people on the unit.
