Meet the Team

Leigh Wilkinson - Hospital Manager

Leigh has worked at Cygnet since November 2017 having previous work experience of 10+ years in the NHS in secure and rehabilitation settings including medium, low and step-down services for both male and female patients. This includes Ward Manager of a Low Secure Male Ward, Bed Manager at Guild Lodge, Head of Healthcare at HMP Kirkham and HMP Preston and Service Manager for the Health and Justice Unit at Lancashire Care Foundation Trust.

Serena Birtwistle - Head of Care

Serena started working at Fountains as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. She quickly progressed to Senior RMN and then became a Lead Senior Nurse, working alongside the Head of Care and the nursing team to oversee excellent standards of care.

In August 2012 she was promoted to the position of Head of Care. Serena manages the team of nurses and support workers, whilst enhancing the existing high standards of care and links with the wider communities.

Dr Gourinath Tokachichu - Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Gourinath Tokachichu became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry since 2007 and approved by the Secretary of State in accordance with Section (12) of the Mental Health Act 1983. He has trained in North West England and has been awarded CCT in General Psychiatry in 2012. He has been awarded Master of Science (MSc in Psychiatry) by the University of Manchester in 2013 for his research on adolescent ADHD.

He has wider clinical experience with a special interest in personality disorders. He took an active role in junior doctor recruitment and involved in service development and innovation as a Medical Manager in NHS. He worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in General and Forensic Psychiatry and joined Cygnet Fountains as a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist in March 2020.

Catherine Flowers - Consultant Forensic Psychologist

Catherine joined the Fountains team in February 2012 following 10 years working as a Psychologist in HMP Prison Service including holding the post of Head of Psychology and Interventions within a North West prison. She has extensive experience in assessing and managing risk and in helping individuals address challenging behaviour.

Catherine is also experienced in supporting individuals to address difficulties with substance use and in developing coping skills for psychosis using cognitive behavioural therapy. She has a number of special interest areas including personality disorder, assessment and management of violence and aggression and is a Certified Schema Therapist.

Natalie Booth - Trainee Forensic Psychologist

Natalie joined the Fountains as a Support Worker in June 2011 before joining the Psychology team on a full time basis in 2013. Natalie is currently working towards qualification as a Forensic Psychologist and has experience in providing therapies using a Cognitive Behavioural and Acceptance and Commitment approach. Natalie has an interest in working with individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and in supporting service users to manage distress from symptoms.

Dominique Wrigley - Occupational Therapist

Dominique has worked in many healthcare settings and has worked as an OT at Fountains since 2013 and a senior OT since 2015. Dominique has developed many new groups since joining the team. She recently worked with some of our gentlemen to develop a charity CD to raise money for the charity MIND. Dominique also provides assessments and personalised interventions and always workers in the spirit of hope and optimism for the future of the people she works with.

Julie Parker - Regional Mental Health Act Administrator

Julie has been part of the Fountains team since February 2005 and has been a Mental Health Act Regional Lead since 2012. Prior to joining Cygnet she spent 19-years working in GP surgeries and a year at the CMHT in Burnley.
