Geoff Yates celebrates 20th anniversary at Cygnet Hospital Bury

Technical Instructor Geoff Yates recently celebrated his 20th anniversary at Cygnet Hospital Bury. Geoff initially started at the hospital in 2001 when he joined the deaf services team as a support worker. He passed an Assistant Practitioner course at Bolton University in 2003 and later joined the activity team at Bury as an Eco-therapist facilitating and leading on such activities as days out, walking groups, gardening and anything else he felt the service users would benefit from to aid their rehabilitation and recovery, many of those activities involved participation both inside and outside of the hospital. Geoff then joined the Recovery College team and facilitated Painting and Decorating and First Aid courses for service Users.

Over the past 20 years, Geoff has built up a fantastic therapeutic working relationship with many service users and is always well respected by them, as he is by his colleagues and his unique sense of humor always shines through. He is currently in the role of Recovery College Workshop Technical Instructor and has assisted and supported service users in some fantastically creative projects as can be seen by some of the photos below. Congratulations Geoff!!
