Excel and Exceed Centre’s Living Eggs Project

The Excel and Exceed Centre at Cygnet Hospital Bury have recently been taking part in the Living Eggs project. They received nine fertilised chicken eggs which were then kept warm in an incubator, supported to hatch, and moved into a large heated container. Staff and students fed, watered, and cleaned the hatchlings for a week and enjoyed watching them grow. At the end of the project the chicks moved on to a new home. Five went to live with one of the hospital’s psychiatrists and the other four with a ward manager. Everyone loved looking after them and hope they have long happy lives.
