Users and Carers in Secure Services

Date:
14th May 2015
Time:
9:15am – 4:15pm
Venue:
Crowne Plaza Birmingham City

Many mental health services strive to work inclusively with those who use their services, and their friends and families. It is generally accepted that this work ethos is much better developed in community mental health services than in secure hospital settings.  As secure service providers, we are privileged to work with users and carers using principles of acceptance, empowerment, inclusion, clear communication and recovery.

Translating these principles into practice within a secure setting can present some formidable challenges. This conference will explore some of those challenges and how they can be met from the perspective of the service user, their carers and the staff working with them both.
