Working to national guidelines, we create a personalised package of care to move individuals further along their recovery-based care pathway, preparing them to reclaim their independence. We care for individuals with many different mental health problems, as well as a history of repeated hospital admission. Some may exhibit dangerous and chronic challenging or offending behaviour, while others may have a forensic history or have received more than one diagnosis.

We provide a specialist locked mental health service for older male service users at Cygnet Hospital Bierley in West Yorkshire. The service specifically caters for male service users who have a serious mental disorder and who could have a secondary diagnosis of personality disorder, mild learning disability, present with disturbed behaviour, or are a risk of physical danger to others or themselves. This specialist health service for women with learning disabilities sits within a female hospital. It is designed for service users for whom mainstream provision cannot meet their needs. It is an inpatient provision to female service users, aged 18 and over with a learning disability who's challenging behavior and mental health needs require that they are detained under the Mental Health Act in a locked ward.
