Cygnet Lodge Westlands
Services
From the 1st June 2008 Cygnet Lodge Westlands will re-open following a major refurbishment as a Female Empowered Community Recovery Unit.
Using an empowered community recovery approach, Cygnet Lodge Westland’s will provide treatment for women experiencing complex mental illness, borderline personality disorder, or eating disorders, in a community setting. Linked to its sister unit, Cygnet Hospital Ealing, for specialist daycare services, Cygnet Lodge Westlands will be able to offer a therapeutic and homely environment that empowers recovery and promotes wellbeing.
What we will offer
We will aim to provide a ‘stepping stone’ from medium or low-secure units bridging the gap between the patient’s home area and local community treatment teams.
Both within the Lodge itself and through our sister unit in Ealing, we will be able to provide a range of innovative and specialist packages of care, centred on life skills therapy aiming to empower individuals to re-address life balance and enhance self-esteem:
- Tailored programmes across a broad spectrum of specific mental health needs
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
- Individual Psychotherapy
- Group Therapy including drama, yoga, art & skills training
- Specialist dietetic input
- Occupational therapy providing a graduated educational programme teaching daily living skills
- Community activities that are designed to realise the unique needs of individuals
- Care for both informal and detained patients
- Homely, but safe, environment
- Easy to follow, fully inclusive costing structure
- Therapies suite plus use of the extensive facilities at Cygnet Hospital Ealing
- Daily access, if required, to the specialist borderline personality disorder and eating disorders daycare treatment programmes at Cygnet Hospital Ealing
Distinguishing ourselves from services of a similar nature, we believe that it is essential to involve patients in the planning of their own care, empowering and encouraging them to live independently as they develop their skills gained through our programmes. Change is the result of consistency, devotion and collaboration between the individual and the team.
Offering person-centred rehabilitation programmes and guided care pathways we will help to enable all individuals to chart their progress in collaboration with their family, clinical team, and referring agencies. Treatment is designed to improve mental health, encouraging the learning of new behaviours and finding alternative ways of expressing feelings without having to resort to harmful behaviours and enabling individuals to move forward and progress with a more meaningful and enjoyable life
