Tiffany Ward - Female low secure rehabilitation

Service & Objectives

Tiffany Ward is a 15-bed ward that admits patients over the age of eighteen with severe and enduring mental health problems who need low secure rehabilitation and care.

Tiffany WardWe offer:

  • integrated care pathway to recovery
  • de-institutionalisation
  • homely environment
  • rehabilitation and care
  • re-integration into the community (where appropriate)

Our objectives are:

  • to provide an environment in which a person's individual needs are met by a multi-disciplinary team
  • to foster independence and motivate those we work with by understanding their symptoms and behaviour, so as to promote positive change.

Treatment Programme

Our care approach is developed from the Tidal Model. We have adapted strategies that allow us to implement realistic and achievable individualised care management in consultation with the patient. The main focus of this interdisciplinary model of care is the empowerment of our patient.

Our model has a patient-centred and interpersonal approach to care. It gives us the opportunity to formalise the patient's perception of their own problems and promotes a greater awareness and understanding of these problems. Our team approach ensures that the patient's views are listened to, taken on board and placed at the centre of all care planning.

The programme:

  • is person centred
  • works towards both learning and recreational objectives
  • focuses on physical as well as mental and social well-being

Activities available for patients on Tiffany Ward include:

  • keep fit / aerobics
  • healthy eating, nutrition and menu planning
  • good grooming, personal care and budgeting
  • relaxation techniques
  • library, book club, newspapers and creative writing
  • art, crafts and model-making

In addition, there are specific group-work and one-to-one sessions addressing particular needs such as:

  • addiction
  • understanding your mental health
  • getting the best from your team
  • understanding physical problems such as asthma or diabetes
